Avon Crew started in the fall of 2007, racing both Spring Sprints and Fall Head Races. Thanks to the support of the City of Hartford, we have been able to practice at Batterson Park Pond in Farmington, CT.

 Rowers participate in fall or spring or both seasons.

    • Fall Season - conditioning, technique and long distance, competing in 2-3 mile Public Regattas.
    • Winter training - includes regional and national indoor erg competitions and core work.
    • Spring - top boats attend the Connecticut Public Schools Rowing Association (CPSRA) Regatta.

  ERGATHON: Come out and support our Athletes as they meet the challenge to row to Bermuda and Back - over 2550km...

 WHY:   They are raising funds not only towards new equipment, but als in support of American Heart or American Cancer Societies... 25% of every donation may be redirected to towards these Societies.

  This event kicks of the capital campaign to raise money for new equipment and sustain a planned recyle of older boats on an annual basis. 

 
 

Coaches Corner

Please be patient as we get the website in order after our move.   This is a very busy time for the next 3 weeks(see event list below)... so all hands on deck - we need you.

All rowers are beginning to see the results of hard work.  The ultimate high for a rower is to feel the run in the boat, to hear the bubbles.....

Teams are on duty Saturday to help with flower pickup and also to meet our original challenge:

Row to Bermuda and Back - over 2550km

So far we have rowed ~2475km... this Saturday we meet the team goal.   Please join us and support our athletes.

Things We Still Need

There are many items small and large that we could put to good use.  Please keep your eyes open for any of the following:

Part Time Land Coach - from 2.30 to 4pm  - please contact us

Pickup Truck - 8' bed, regular cab, w/ tow package - FORD 250 SuperDuty or equivalent

ERGs - (ergonometer, aka rowing machine), preferably a Concept II, model D with PM3

Skills we find useful: PLEASE STEP UP and tell us where you can help

woodworking, engine repair, driving van to regattas (no special license), legal advice, web and accounting experts, marketing and PR.
